WHO WE ARE

ComeTogetherUK was founded by Rachel Foux in 2010.
Rachel is a maternity sex educator, psychosexual therapist and author. She is a regular contributor to the media and lecture circuit on sexual health during pregnancy, childbirth and postpartum. Her many pioneering projects in the community represent her commitment to the normalisation of sexuality through the birthing years. Rachel founded Household Companion Ltd in 2006, an organisation dedicated to delivering useful and relevant sexual health education and support to parents and health providers. Rachel is a founding member of the British Association of Sexual Educators.

PURPOSE

At ComeTogetherUk, we are committed to helping parents to adapt to the profound impact that becoming parents has on their sexuality and relationship.

We recognise that failure to acknowledge the challenges of this time can result in a breakdown of the family unit.

Our long-term approach to sex and relationship education shifts the focus from crisis intervention to positive preparation through skill enhancement.

We believe that through providing adequate resources to support and educate parents and front line practitioners, there will be more potential to inform and influence young people with positive sexual values, now and in the future.

AIMS

  1. To provide positive sexual health resources, education and training for parents and frontline practitioners, via online and face-to-face media.
  2. To enable parents to feel comfortable and confident about contributing to the sex and relationship education of young people.
  3. To investigate what makes sexual relationships work best in pregnancy and beyond, and to make research findings accessible to both practitioners and parents alike.
  4. To help midwives and other health professionals identify and manage domestic violence in pregnancy, ultimately improving maternal and infant health.
  5. To develop on-line communities to encourage the sharing of knowledge and expertise between parents and practitioners.
